Collection

The collection of the National Maritime Museum is comprised of several sub-collections that express mankind’s connections with the sea: marine art, mythology, ancient anchors and coins, scientific instruments (the Landau Family Collection), antique storage vessels (collection of the late David Kennet), maps and graphic works (Karl & Li Handler Collection), models of old and new ships. Many of these items are on permanent display in the Museum.

1995 the collection of the Museum of Ancient Art created by Dr. Alexander Roche was integrated with that of the National Maritime Museum created by Mr. Arie Ben-Eli. Thus, together with exhibits appertaining to marine archaeology, one can also see antiques that have no connection with the sea.
